Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW): Javi
NAPALM: Javi
If you were assigned a character you will answer the following questions in your blog with a picture in 3 paragraphs.
A. What did the organization or honored guest do?
B. Why were they formed /Why did they do what they did?
C. What were some of the specific things the character did to educate people about or to end the war?
D. How did the character think the Vietnam War should be ended? Why is that the best way?
E. What were some of the problems or criticisms with the character?

The Vietnam Veterans Against the War was an organization formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1971. This organization was created by veterans returning from the war in Vietnam. The expressed the everyday brutality that American soldiers were forced to use against civilians. They were formed so that they can speak their thoughts out about the war. Many thought what they did in the war was wrong and therefore they had to inform the rest of the nation.
Many of these veterans testified before a public hearing about war crimes and atrocities they had witnessed or participated in. To get the word out they also held protest and marches. Since little attention was paid to them bu the media or politicians they marched down to Washington D.C. They would scream out the names of their dead comrades.
The hope of the Vietnam Veterans Against War was that by bringing to light the daily horrors of combat in Vietnam, average everyday citizens could not help but be moved into action that would end the war. So the veterans were against the war and wish to bring it to an end with peace. They wish that many soldiers like their comrades would not get killed and for everyone to just withdraw from the war.

If you were assigned an Event or situation you need to summarize the event add primary source analysis, and include a video of the event or situation in 3 paragraphs.
NAPALM BOMBING

In the 1960s Dow Pharmaceutical Company created a new chemical called Napalm.  Napalm is
a jelly substance that burns. Once Put into a bomb, with  upon contact
it will would explode, covering everything and everyone with this flaming
jelly substance. If it covered your body, it would be stuck to you and
could not be removed. It would literally burn your body until it was
gone. The  bombing of North Vietnam was codenamed
Operation Rolling Thunder.
During the Vietnam War as part of the strategic bombing campaign known as Operation Rolling Thunder, U.S. military aircraft attacked targets throughout North Vietnam from March 1965 to October 1968. This  bombardment was intended to put military pressure on North Vietnam’s Communist leaders and reduce their capacity to wage war against the U.S.-supported government of South Vietnam. Operation Rolling Thunder marked the first sustained American assault on North Vietnamese territory and was a major expansion of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. Historians differ in their assessments of the strategic value of Operation Rolling Thunder.
The effects of napalm on the human body are unbearably painful and almost always cause death among its victims. “Napalm is the most terrible pain you can ever imagine” said Kim PhĂșc, a survivor from a napalm bombing. “Water boils at 212°F. Napalm generates temperatures 1,500°F to 2,200°F.” Kim PhĂșc sustained third degree burns to portions of her body. She was one of the only survivors of such extreme measures

President Truman Political Cartoons

Write a blog about your president that focuses on at least 3 political cartoons related to your president. Post 3 political cartoons and write a paragraph about each one explaining what was the issue presented by the cartoon
The following pictures are political cartoons of President Truman presidential campaign in 1948.
In this picture you seen Truman and Barkley. I believe Wallaceites were democrats. The G.O.P is the Republican Party also commonly called the Grand Old Party.  The Rebel Democrats were the southern democrats. They are depicted as the enemy because they were against Truman in the campaign. This political cartoon message is showing that Truman was against the Republicans, Southern Democrats, and Wallace. The Charge of the Little Brigade relates to this because in the charge a small cavalry with bravery carried out their orders against a stronger outnumbered enemy regardless of the outcome. In this picture Truman is against many as well.

In this picture Dewey appears a lot. Dewey was the man running against Truman. Thomas Dewey was from the Southern Democrats. He appears in the cartoon to the right believing that he will win the election. However Truman won the election easily, it was not close. According the cartoon in 1948 Dewey was predicted to win the election against Truman. In the picture Truman seems worried and annoyed from Dewey who is smiling because of the bulletin board. Every single message on the board predicts a dominant win over Truman.

The significance of the overturned cart is to show that Truman did not believe or cared about the polls, trends, betting odds, expert opinions, and predictions. You can also see apples appear next to the predictions. This cartoon may have been created after the election or towards the climax once they flipped the campaign by beginning to get all the votes and wins. The message of this cartoon is that Truman overcame everyone who said he was going to lose the campaign. Everyone was wrong about him ever going to lose. The most significant words were betting odds which shows that the cart contained the things against him.

President Truman

why your president WAS MOST EFFECTIVE IN LEADING THE COUNTRY THROUGH THE COLD WAR. (2 paragraphs and images) and critique at least 2 other Presidents
President Truman was elected the 33rd president of the United States of America in 1945 after Franklin Delano Roosevelt's sudden death. He is a man who ended World War II with the dropping of two atomic bombs on Japan. People argue that he saved hundreds of lives but in the end he made the only decision he could. President Truman tried his best to progress the nation through the Cold War era. He passed the Marshall plan rebuilding of Europe which has long been recognized as one of the great humanitarian accomplishments of the 20th century. He supported European economies to build in order to prevent them from turning into communist and the communism spreading.
Through an executive action he also desegregated the US Armed Forces creating one strong and united army under one nation. In the end Truman also prevent the United States from heading into a major war with all of North Korea and China together. He fired Gen. MacArthur when he disobeyed orders and attempted to attack North Korea and use nuclear weapons. The firing of MacArthur prevented any major war within the Soviet's and the United States.
The reason why President's such as Nixon and Johnson do not deserve to be president is because they had no faith in their nation. President Nixon was a man who lied to his nation and because of him the country citizens would no longer have trust in their president's cabinet ever again. Johnson should also not be remembered as a man who progressed because he refused to run for another presidency because he saw that he did not do his job as a president in the Vietnam War.

Possible Solutions

Photo #?
The problem found in this picture was that there is an African American working on a plantation field.
One thing you can see is that the African American is wearing torn overalls  and it looks that he is attached to the machine he is using to crop the fields. Another problem found in this picture was that the African American is not wearing any shoes. The African American shown in this picture is barefoot, while working on the plantation field which is obviously a hard condition to work in.
A cause to this problem may be that the African America shown in this picture is a slave. A slave is a person who is the legal property of someone else and is force to obey them. Because of this African Americans were forced to work on plantations fields for free while working in harsh working conditions. Another possible cause for the problem was that this man is actually working on the fields after slavery is even over. This may be the harsh working conditions of a African American in the late 1800s. Because African Americans were former slaves and they often had trouble finding jobs, they would work for their former slave owners and they were being ripped off with the work hours and pay.
The governments responsibility in this is that better working conditions should have been given to workers on the field. Conditions are to harsh and they should be given at least shoes. The government must also, if this is a picture of a former slave under the black codes, end the black codes. It was unfair for African Americans to work for unfair wages and excessive work hours.

Great Britain Involvement World War One

Great Britain Involvement World War One
Great Britain declared war on Germany when German troops invaded Belgium. Great Britain helped Belgium because they had a treaty with them to help them when ever they got in trouble. The treaty was Great Britain's reasoning for entering the war. Winston Churchill was an inspirational leader of the British navy. The Triple Entente or Allied Powers was formed by France, Russia, The United States, Belgium, and Great Britain. Great Britain's enemies were The Triple Alliance or Central Powers with Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire. The main propaganda for Great Britain was posters encouraging people to join the army.
England was an island so they used more boats and ships in war. They assassination of Franz Ferdinand caused Great Britain to go to war with Germany. Fighting for soldiers in World War One was terrible more than nine million soldiers served in the army. The war was brutal were many died from disease if not the war itself. During the war many people from the nation had to deal with lack of supplies and many women had to work. The British strategy stopped German ships from bringing supplies back to Germany and they destroyed railroads.
After the war caused new countries to be formed and old countries to be destroyed. As a result nine million military people died from the war. The loss of production was lost during the war because of the withdraw of men. If Great Britain would have not warn the war they would have probably not be a country today. The war was ended by the Treaty of Versailles.

John D. Rockefeller
John D Rockefeller was a man who enjoyed religion in 1859 he formed his owned business with $2,000. He bought a oil rig and created the standard oil company. It was a monopoly business because it had control over all the firms and anyone who bought oil in Ohio region bought it from Rockefeller at his prices and there was no competition. The company was broken up once a woman muckraker wrote about practicing unfair business.
